Hi, I'm Jackie. Nurse. Medspa owner. Mom. Filipina-American. Ward of the court. Runaway. Go-go dancer. Two-time nursing board failure. And someone who spent decades believing something was fundamentally wrong with her until she finally found out why she was the way she was. This book is that answer.
"I did not make a mistake. I made a choice based on who I was back then, what I thought was good for me back then, and what I knew back then."

Who I Am
I'm Jacqueline San Agustin Kaiklian, MSN, RN, Certified Trauma-Informed Coach, medspa founder, and author. On paper, I look like a success story. But the real story starts much earlier and goes much deeper.
Ward of the court. On probation from 13 to 18. Expelled, runaway, dropout. I lost two babies before I was old enough to vote. I failed my nursing boards twice. I go-go danced in LA at night and studied nursing during the day. I was the cautionary tale. The black sheep. The one nobody expected anything from.
It wasn't until I started doing the deep work: understanding the why behind how I came to be, and that everything shifted. Not just in my life, but in how I showed up in every room I walked into. Healing and hustling aren't opposites. They are the only way through.
"I am not a perfect example of healing. I am an honest one. I am still in it. And I wrote this while I was still in it because I believe that is exactly when it needed to be written."

The Book
I just think and feel the way I do based on what I went through
This is not a self-help book that tells you to breathe through it or think positive. This is the book that finally explains why you are the way you are and gives you permission to stop calling it a character flaw.
It's for anyone who ever felt too much, reacted too hard, loved too deeply, or shut down completely and couldn't explain why. Anyone who kept hitting the same wall in relationships, in work, in life, and wondered if they were just broken. You are not broken. You are not weird. You just think and feel the way a person does based on what they went through.
Written by a trauma-informed nurse, coach, and survivor who lived every page of this. Jackie takes you through her own memories museum so you can finally start making sense of yours.
"I extended my hand to her, and I pulled her down. I moved her hair out of her face, and I said: you don't have to do this anymore. I got you now. I got us now."
